I'm planning on doing the "Bagel Ride" tomorrow, Sunday. Its a good group, usually 10 -20 riders. Sundays are usually easier rides than Sunday. I've been riding with these guys for a couple of years. Pretty much no one gets dropped and the routes are always good on scenic, low traffic roads(for the most part): 50 - 70 miles either out toward Elgin or Cele (NE) or toward Libery Hill (NW) depending on the wind and the mood. Avg. speed between 16 and 18. Not as fast as the infamous Sweedish Hill Bakery Ride, but usually a good workout specific to the race season. If you make it, say "hey", I ride a blue and white GT.

Oh yeah, see http://www.violetcrown.org/ for more info.
that looks like a fun ride.......will definitely have to get it out sometime....more than likely the Freewheelin ride cause I live down south and the bagel ride is a long haul to get to.
by the way, any of you Violetcrown cyclists doing the GVGP road race this coming weekend?
this will be my first road race........any of you Cat 5 racers?

Don't know for sure if any VC'ers are doing the GVGP. Seems like I saw at least one or two on the prereg. list. I ride for UYS. The Bagel Ride is actually led by 2 ex-VC'ers and their new teammates with the Texas Cyclones. The ride's open to anyone though. We had a good ride today, there was 9 of us - kind of a small turnout cause it was pretty chilly early. We did about 52 mi. out past Manor on some of the same roads the Ride for the Roses was held.
I've done the Freewheelin Ride too. The bagel ride works well for me though since I live off of Braker and can ride to the start.
I'm planning on doing the second GVGP race (I'm a Cat. 5, will upgrade to 4 and race Masters 45+ next year) and then also doing the Return to Cele Race the week after. The Texas Cyclones are putting that one on. Its a fun course on good roads. There's a bad dog that always chases on that route right at the top of a hill. A little added incentive to hammer when you want to rest.
