You can help Joseph Tokarski at the 2/2 GVGP posted by Rob Kane
The promoters of the Green Valley Grand Prix will donate $1 of every entry in the February 2nd edition of the Green Valley Grand Prix to assist the Tokarski family pay (what I can only imagine to be) sizeable medical bills.
So sign up today at http://www.bikereg.com/Races/register.asp?EventID=593. Not only do you get to test your mettle on the race course, but you also help support a worthy cause.
Thanks,
Rob and Bonnie

Here is the information about Joseph...
Texas Cup Champ Joseph Tokarski to undergo open heart surgery posted by Steve Knight
Joseph has been diagnosed with bacterial endocarditis and will have to undergo open heart surgery. His symptoms started last week with a fever and it was originally thought he had the flu and was given antibiotics. When his fever returned on Thursday and hit 105, his mother, Helen took him back to the doctor. Fortunately another doctor was on call and decided to do some blood work that helped to identify what he has. He was admitted to Texas Children's Hospital on Saturday and it was discovered that he has a heart murmur. Unknown to anyone was that Joseph has a congenital heart defect. I believe his father said he has a bicuspid aortic valve. That means
he only has two valves when he should have three. This occurs in roughly 4% of the population and makes Joseph more susceptible to the bacteria. The bacteria has actually eaten a hole though the valve. He is on antibiotics now but within the next week surgeons will perform a Ross
Procedure to repair his damaged valve. His prognosis after surgery is good and hopefully he can get back on his bike after three months of recuperation.
For those who aren't aware of Joseph's accomplishments, he was crowned the Overall Texas Cup Champion for 2002. He also won the individual road, track and cyclocross championships in the 10-14 year old age group.
Understandably, Kevin and Helen are extremely worried about their son and ask that you pray for his recovery and for the doctors who will be operating on him.
