i'M GOING TO MULESHOE TOMORROW AFTERNOON TO RIDE MY M** BIKE. MAYBE I'LL SEE YOU GUYS & GAL NEXT WEEK.

I DID RIDE 35+ MILES ON MY ROAD BIKE YESTERDAY. IT WAS GREAT!

Anita Handle

alright, I *will* be there. I'll decide there at the bakery if it's too cold or too humid or if the dew point is too high or if my hangnail hurts too much or my feet itch too much or if there's too much strife in the world or if the stock market is too shakey or if my chain needs lubing or if my seat is too hard or if I wished I had a custom Vanilla Bicycles road bike or it's too early or if my legs feel too dead or if my tires are too worn or if my gearing is too steep or if my bar tape is too old or if griz didn't wear deodarant or if my shoes don't match my jersey or if my tights are cutting off the circulation to my brain or my helmet stinks too much or if you guys really don't like me like griz said or if my road fork doesn't get enough travel.

See you there.

Sorry I couldn't make it. Tuesdays have become very difficult days for me. My wife now has a Tuesday class at UT and I am responsible for our 70 lb wilderbeast (she's actually a big cute sharpei/shepard mix with energy to burn). Anyway, long story short can't do Tuesday mornings anymore.

john_curtis
02-11-2003, 09:18 AM
Yeah, I'll be in the cape. I'll need something to use to scrape the 10 lbs of mud off my bike.

Great ride this morning and great weather. Question of the hour is were was SS and OS. They must have went on another riding trip. I mean business trip.:D
They will probably come up with an excuse of, "Sorry the elevation was tooo low back here and we were hyperventilating.";)

Yeah, as usual, a good ride, but it's always hard to come to work after. No matter what time of day it is, I always get a craving for a cheeseburger and Lone Star after a ride. But I've got a hunch that the boss wouldn't take kindly to me getting liquored up before lunch.

bring her along! sorry you won't be able to make those rides anymore. does your dog have a problematic bladder? you're really just mad at me because I keep dropping you, aren't you? well keep your chin up and keep plugging away at it and you'll get faster in no time at all. :D

I am free every morning of the week for the 6:45 AM ride, so I am open to changing it. Maybe we should do a poll to pick the day that is best for the most people?

Hello!

Sorry I didn't do the bakery thing this am. I opted for a CP ride instead.

Maybe Oldschooler was too traumatized by his fall off the picnic table to join in this morning. ;)

Tuesdays are still okay with me, Wednesdays too.

Lester
02-12-2003, 09:49 AM
Any day of the week will work for me, though I've got a feeling I'd be more likely to skip on Fridays and Mondays.

any day but Monday. Don't think I could do that ride after racing on Sunday. and i will make it to some more of the morning bakery rides. just couldn't pass up riding at muleshoe yesterday - it was awesome :D

Anita Handle
02-12-2003, 03:03 PM
so griz, when can you ride? It looks like most people are flexible and there's really just a handfull of people that make this ride anyways so we can change it as the group sees fit. teus, wed or thur mornings would be fine with me.

Would love to ride along with youth guyzz when I get a rode bike. Soon I hope.....looking for something now.

Griz

right now, Wednesday mornings are looking good. Monday is not so hot because it will usually be following a race (road or mtb).

Anita Handle
02-20-2003, 12:01 PM
shall we go ahead and plan for next wed?

bizarrio, come on out when you get your bike or you can slap slicks on an extra bike if you have one.

I'll join in the fun and pencil in Wednesday.

Lester
02-20-2003, 12:53 PM
Sounds like a plan. I'll be there Wednesday, unless I decide to sleep in late or find some other lame excuse for cheesing out.

Hmm. Controversial as this may be, I could be interested in a Wed AM ride.

When do you guys start and tend to finish this stuff?

-T

Anita Handle
02-20-2003, 02:47 PM
we usually start around 705 - 710. finish ~830. it's about an 18 mile loop.

Arrive a little bit early so you can partake in morning pastries and pre-ride chatting! :)

Oh yeah, park in the adjacent neighborhood instead of the uppercrust bakery parking lot.

I might be taking Justin to the airport that morning, but if not, I'll join in on the Wednesday ride.

:D

We'll see you Wed. morning, Jody.

Cool, looks like some new folk might show up.

Biz, I can probably scrounge up a spare road bike, should you need to borrow one.

don't you mean......should you need to test ride a cx bike that I am trying to unload.

blatant salesmanship, right here on mojo. you probably you confine these posts to the 'For Sale' section!:D

Luckily for us all the CX bike seems to be on the verge of selling!

This opens a virtual Pandora's box of new bike possibilities.

Verdict: The Moral High Ground remains secure under my size 46 Sidis.

Thanks guys...I just might take you up on that Singlespeedster. I wouldn't mind trying something out. I think you live around downtown also right. I'm right past the Congress bridge in the Apt. on the left.

You guys setting something up for next wed. morning right. I'll post on here before then to see if I can make it or not. Most likely I'm in but just have to see what's up with some stuff I have to do next week.

Wednesday A.M. sounds good to me. Mind if I join y'all? Haven't been on my road bike in a while and it's starting to give me looks like it wants to kill me in my sleep or shred the tires and mangle the chain of my mtb, which hangs right next to it.

Looking forward to it.

So is this going to be an additional day to the Tuesday ride or are we planning on scrapping the Tuesday ride? The Tuesday ride was designed to be a recovery ride from the weekend by SS and turned into a hammerfest by Griz. Joking what are the plans for the Wed. morning ride and what is going to be the group expectations? I couldn't ride Tuesday morning but I showed up in support for some coffee. Why not get two or three days scheduled for Bakery rides this way we can envelope a much larger scale of mojo's. Also this would enable us to change pace, speed, and time.

I think G- is onto something here.

Griz

If you can keep the numbers going for both days, I say the more the merrier. However, the problem seemed to be that on Tuesday morning, the numbers were dwindling. There were several occassions where only 1 or 2 would show up. Its cool that the ride survived, but it was always far more enjoyable when 6-8 would show up.

It seems that a switch to Wednesday is now opening the door to more riders, which was one of the points of the Bakery Ride in the first place. Why don't we add a second Bakery Ride on Wednesday and see how it works as far as turn out for both days (Tues and Weds). If both rides sustain, great! Its never a bad thing to have options.

With that said, if you can only make one, Wednesday is the one to be at. All the cool people will be doing the Wednesday ride. Only losers will be riding on Tuesday. :D

Anita Handle
02-21-2003, 10:49 AM
how about a different route for each day? maybe a flatter route on tue and the usual route on wed, maybe with an extra hill or some extra distance (god, what am I asking for here).

G-
02-21-2003, 07:46 PM
I believe that Griz is correct that the Tues ride did "dwindle" but I believe the cold may have had something to do with it at times. Also, I believe no ride will have a strong showing every day it occurs. It's kind of like cleaning that new bike. The first couple of times the whole thing gets wiped down. The next ride you will get most of the mud and clean the chain. Eventually you will only clean the chain. Then you will only clean the chain when it doesn't shift right. Ooops, I was describing a MTB! Sorry wrong post.:D

Let's try two a week. Hell if we can get two to three people on any day that should be considered a group ride.

Do ya'll ever do the ride in the evening? Wish I could make the weekday morning rides, however, work will not allow this at present.

After April 6, there will be evening rides a plenty.

As for tyhe Tues morning route. I would like to propose a slightly different route.

North up Shoal Creek to Steck, west across Mopac, down Adirondack to the base of Spicewood, UP the long gradual 360 climb, back over to Great Northern, sseveral on/off laps there or head south to the hills.

I would like to try to mix in longer gradual climbing, along with ur usual route which features short intense efforts.

BTW, tuesdays forecast calls for am rain/ice.

Shazbat!
