I like pie.
New trail feature?
Attachment 13073
Sometimes I try to eat a really large slice of pie but it's too wide to get in my mouth so I get some sharp scissors or a knife and just slice open one cheek or the other so it will squeeze through and show that pie gate who's boss!
I think the solution is a fork with one edge that is sharp. That way you can cut your pie (or steak or cheek or whatever) as you are eating, without using a knife.
Or an oval fork. Those are good. Ever since I got an oval fork with 7 tines I have never missed my mouth with a morsel of food not even once.

This tread popped up on my page again. A few years ago (4 or 5) Dirt Bike Magazine had an article on riding tree gates on a dirt bike. I did not find that article with a quick Google search but I did find this - https://www.dirtrider.com/features/p...chnique#page-5 Keep in mind that dirt bikes are usually going faster than even down hill MTBs.
The crux of the technique is to pick which hand you want to go thru first. Usually it will be the hand with the closest tree (they are rarely at the exact same distance along the trail). Edge the bike to the side of the trail that will be your second hand thru. Just before the later hand hits the tree, turn the front wheel so that hand virtually stops moving forward (the bikes forward speed is countered by that side of the handlebars moving back). At that point you can lean the bike towards the 'stopped hand' very quickly and push the other hand past the nearest tree. Then quickly lean the bike the other way and work the 'stopped hand' past its tree. Then blast down the trail. You need to practice this until it becomes ingrained so you don't even think about it. You just do it automatically. Start slowly and pick up the pace.
I miss having 3/8" of aluminum between my knuckles and the trees... That being said, threading trees seems to be one of the skills that's carried over well to MTBing from Dirtbikes for me. What I can't seem to do is sit on the gas tank and weight my front wheel around corners...
There are several things about dirt bikes that don't carry over to MTB. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to bring the rear wheel around with the throttle. I guess I'm just not strong enough on the pedals. ;-)
And I miss being able to grip the gas tank with my knees. I would always use my outside knee to pull the bike into the turn. Now I hear on a mtb I'm supposed to lean my inside knee into the turn to "turn around it". Sorry - that does not compute.
Brrrraaap!
