    Race at Lance's Ranch

    I just registered:

    http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?EventID=9455

    Team AustinBike.com

I am definitely sure that I will do the pre-ride, pretty sure that I will race (and lose), but that weekend is the weekend that I was hoping to do a road trip to womble or palo duro.

Maybe I will race. Either way, the money goes to a good cause. Let the games begin.

I went CAT 2 because the CAT 3 route is only 12 mile, CAT 3 is 16. CAT 1 would have been more typical for my rides (24 miles), but I don't want to be in the way of those that really know how to race.

    Sport riders.

Trust me, you are probably better in CAT 2. The CAT 3 mix can be a train wreck sometimes.

Yes. When you register it will ask for a team or association. Just put in "AustinBike.com"

There is no fee to be part of my team, but you have to be willing to drink a beer at the end of the ride. Oh, and not finish first in your class, that would embarass the rest of the team.

Registered. I also registered Cat 2, although I reserve the right to change that after I pre-ride the course.

I will gladly buy MY team jersey but I am not buying yours.

Hey Nando, what are the specifics on how quickly we could get AustinBike.com jerseys and cost?

    Thanks for the support guys.

I'd suggest registering on the chance that if Lance puts on twitter it's going out to 2 million people. Event will have cap so make sure you don't delay if you want to be there.

Already some out of state interest and sign ups, should be fun...

UT, OR, MD, CA, CO, MN, NY, FL... are all currently represented in the line up.

It will be fun to meet mountain biking sisters/brothers from other parts of the country.

Darn I registered late last night and didn't notice the Cat 3 course was shorter.

Just found out that jerseys take 8-9 weeks and are expensive in small quantities.

Maybe a long term project if I can get 21+ people interested.

    What about socks? Price, quantity?

Done & staying in Cat 3. I got inspired by reading about Wendy Skean last evening, a 65-year-old woman endurance racer who just completed the Breck Epic stage race this summer (oldest finisher, male or female) and also did Leadville a couple of years ago in under 12 hours, plus numerous other 24-hour and 100 mile races. I wasn't inspired enough to register for Cat 2, but inspired.
Wendy has been teaching 1st grade for 30 years and I don't think she is retired yet from that job.

OK JB you are making me feel like a real wimp. I signed up for the pre ride ONLY since with limited registration I didn't want to bump a 'real racer' (read: somebody that has raced before) so I could ride.
