    Offering

Just a little blood sacrifice to the trail gods.

    Move along . . . nothing to see here . . .

Unless it is actual Wookiee blood . . .

I'm sure they're a few 70 to 80 year old cougars out in Spicewood.

I saw that two days ago and was wondering what the hell took place. Glad you snapped some photos of it.

Looks like a good spot for a sign detailing what will happen to bike thieves and trail sanitizers...

Could have been a snail or something. Those things get pretty big out in the hill country.

    Kitty, kitty

    Mountain Lion (Puma concolor)

In Texas, the Mountain Lion is found throughout the Trans-Pecos, as well as the brushlands of south Texas and portions of the Hill Country. Sighting and kill reports indicate that Mountain Lions now occur in more counties than they did 10 years ago and appear to be expanding their range into central Texas.

Mountain Lions are relatively uncommon, secretive animals. They are carnivores that prey on a variety of animals; some favorites include deer and wild hogs. Other prey animals included in the Mountain Lion's diet are rabbits, jackrabbits, javelinas, and rodents. Some lions occasionally kill livestock or dogs.

I remember a PB thread a little while back when someone (I believe it was the wookie) posted a pic of a pawprint. Some debate on whether it was dog or big kittie (I wondered from the red dirt if the pic was even taken locally). Can anyone clarify how that story ended on the print?

I would not be at all surprised if there are mountain lions at PB. I remember reports of one in a N Austin neighborhood a few years back. Would like to know as I have friends who bike with a small dog ahead or trailing. Could turn ugly...

the paw print is from a large puppy dog...the blood is from culling deer by the park rangers...

It was not my intent to scare anyone...
