    bike chop shop supossedly raided.....

    Ahhhh the drama

    http://www.atxbs.com/?q=node/784

"Oh sweet, sweet vindication. I've been having to sit on a lot of information regarding this case for quite some time, but it looks like there IS some justice out there amongst the Austin Police Department as it pertains to bicycle crime. A certain Mr. James Clayton has just had his house raided by the police, according to an email I received (names/locations changed to protect whomever):" - ATXBS.com

    Jason,

After looking around a bit this guy sounds like the same flake that would reply to some of my craigslist ads for high end stuff. I found the old mails and his name was James. He replied to different ads but after he no-showed to an appointment ffor the 2nd time (not at may house) I didn't take him seriously and wouldn't reply to him anymore. He always started the same way, I have cash and will meet you today. After the exchange of a few mails he would die off or not respond.

If it is the guy maybe my info would help APD. I have emails with phone numbers etc...

If it was him I suspect my only saving graces was that I worked from home a lot and most of all have 2 big very loud barking dogs...

wow..so that CL list was true..I thought it was just someone yanking that dude's chain..I hope they give the range roving driving punk the same time in the joint as the dude that tried to kill the treaty oak (9 years)...the ATX, you can rape and kill people with a slap on the wrist (Pena) but dont steal bikes or try to kill a tree cuz you're going to the hole, big time.

That sounds about right. According to the police his (alleged) MO was to contact a craigslist seller, get their address, no-show, then burglarize the house at a later date. I was actually just contacted again by the police about 30 minutes ago, and the Detective in charge of the case wanted me to pass on his name and phone number to anyone who might have more information on James Clayton, or believe themselves to have been victimized by him in the past:

    Detective Scott Askew - 512-974-5978

The police also said that there are now a total of 5 felony charges on James, with more expected in the future as they further identify stolen property. I think he's officially done racing.

I wonder if he will be listing his unused Pay Dirt points on Craig's List.

Dude, this guy bought a fork from me off of CL last year. Luckily I live in a condo downtown with security, so nothing ever happened. Wicked.....

If you see a RockShox Reba World Cup in white laying around...that's it!

Call the detective. He needs people that met the alleged and completed transactions.

I just spoke to him and gave him the emails from the alleged to me. I think right now he needs people that can tie the email addresses to the face that showed up. Since you met him I am sure it would be a big help.

He raced at lot of the dirt derby's as well. I heard, don't know if this is fact or not, but I'll say it anyways. Supposedly he would befriend people, then through common interest he'd find out when they were going on long rides and that's when the stuff would get ganked. The CL plot seems more plausible, but also knowing when your "friends" are out on long rides or away for the weekend would help if you wanted to lift their shit. Also when you're friends with someone you know where they live and how many bikes they have. What's creepy is how many "friends" I share with this dude on Facebook.
