    BTW, thanks for trying, Brian.

I explained to the customer service rep that I was asking about the possibility for a bike rack to be installed at the store. She disappeared behind a door then came back out with some questions. I explained further that the local New Braunfels bike club was interested in potentially backing some bike-related projects, and was asking whether HEB would consider either placing a rack out front or if the club could assist in making a rack happen. She disappeared once again behind the door and then came back with the following:

Please have your club provide a request on letterhead and we'll forward it to corporate.

My "meh" moment of the week.

    I'd go with helmets.
Thanks for trying, I don't think we own any letterhead........... I'll keep pressuring the coffee shop.

Lisa, the helmets were taken care of today, I'll be more than happy to volunteer, post up and let us know what you need from us. I've got May 19th marked down on the calendar, 9-11am at New Braunfels Christian Academy. Would you like us in our cycling kits and on our bikes?

    HEB Update

After I wrote the above update, I went to HEB's website and filled in the "contact us" form, basically with the same info asking about the possibility of a bike rack being installed at the new store. Hit "send" and then didn't expect to get anything in return.

Yesterday I got a call from the store manager following up on my online request.

    Get this ...

The new HEB has a rack. It's on the pharmacy side. Never seen or noticed it before? Well, that's likely because there's always stuff in front of it. So the manager has committed to making sure that rack stays clear - it's supposed to be clear right now but I haven't had a chance to ride by and see. I'm heading by there tonight.

Next time you're in the store, at least take a minute and fill out one of the comment cards and thank them for making the rack accessible.

And the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle."

Dang Brian, way to keep running with that bone. I'll fill out a comment card the next time I'm in there. Thanks for the update. Now I'll keep working on the coffee shop.

I thought that ship had sailed??? I didn't realize how deep CR pockets run! I'll pester the coffee shop folk, too - if that's still an option. I'd love to see a bike rack in front of Gruene Coffee Haus that has a sign bearing the clubs name.

Hasn't sailed Sailor Jerry, waiting to hear back from the property owner. Our pockets are deep, unless we blow it all on BBQ and Beer for the possible Memorial Day Weekend party, I'm pushing that one also.

We try to stay close to a winning ratio - for every $200 we donate, we spend $10,000 on beer for ourselves.
