okay now that we have the date and helmets ..... here is the speakers i need , as I said in is not alot of talking max 10 minutes each. please let me know who would like to do what .....
speaker # 1 will wear kit and discuss why each piece of clothing is important , bring personal bike and discuss special features on it, ie.. clip on petals, why, special shifters and why, stuff like that
speaker # 2 discuss how and which side to ride on streets and paths, discuss what to do at stop signs, genaral rules of the road, when riding in a group how you communicate to each other and don't say yelling : )
speaker # 3 discuss how things can go not as planned, animal encounters and real life adventures in cycling and perhaps how to prevent them, murf don't say kill all the deer, but honestly, tell them about how you can get injured just don't scare the crap out of them. ( what ya think murf ?)
Speaker # 4 bike preventive maintence prior to riding, what to check before getting on, tire pressure, ect and how to put a chain back on in an emergency ( chris v, thought this might be right up your alley)
after the speakers the kids will have 4 events that will run all at the same time, all timed by stop watches ( provided by girl scouts) and each speaker will time an event, and post the times on their specific sheet of girl names, the events will be something along the lines of 1. riding in a straight line for a certain distance and how fast they do it, 2. braking in a certain area 3. cones course and how fast done and 4. a circle course and how fast they complete it.
when we have the confirmed number of helmets then we can decide how many places in each event gets a prize....
sorry to go on and on about this, but I have to organize everyone and get committments to participate and make sure it is successful for the girls. thank you all for giving the helmet prizes for this event. lisa
I'll take topic one, unless someone else wants it.

okay... vic # 1, murf # 3.... yea... I think since it I read all the regs for biking on the street and we need to include hand signals in speaker # 2....they are real easy and I can give the speaker diagrams since I know hollering is the perfered method of communication... thanks, lisa
okay hubby is doing # 2, so we have confirmation from all except chris v, i will call him re the okay.. thank you. lisa
well have chris on board as the bike maintence speaker, said helmets are coming in today . so all I need from murf and vic are you personal emails , since I need to forward some paperwork re girl scouts to you. thanks, lisa
okay folks, i just found out vic has a prior committment that he cannot get out of,so who is taking # 1, it is real easy... wearing kit and talking about your bike.... I need a volunteer that is available on that date.... thanks, lisa
How many girls will there be (approx)? I can probably grab you some Shimano Youth Series number plates this weekend if you'd like.

okay folks, some sad news... we are having to postpone the event until sept after school has started back... we have had a response to the event, but with the end of school many kids have prior committments for each weekend and there is mandatory paperwork that is required for all the volunteers to participate and we have to have it submitted 10 days PRIOR to the event happening. I would like to set it for a sat in sept like 29th, can all the bike club volunteers do that weekend? Chris said he is in for sept as a speaker for the bike maint. section, don will do what I need him to do, how about you murf ? i apologize to anyone that has slated their sat am for this but perhaps you can help in sept. thank you, lisa
