Update, for those that haven't been out there in a while.

Paved roads and parking lot.



Bathrooms with outdoor showers.





Shaded picnic pavilion.



IMBA Trail Solutions crew building a wooden pump track.





They should be done by the middle of next week. Travis County and ARR have been working for about a year to get this project done. It should be ready to ride, not this weekend, but next. Thanks, Travis County!

Plywood bowled corners and ladder construction. Low maintenance and in the shade! CMC, of WC pump track had a huge part in the concept plan. It will really be a great pre/post ride trailhead fun spot. Kudos to Travis County for listening to user groups and involving us in design and site location.

How long is the pump track going to be? I had no idea they were putting one out there. As for the bathrooms and such, can you use those facilities yet? Is the water hooked up?

The water wasn't on yet and the shower and water fountain were still wrapped in plastic (but installed). The pt is in the shade of some giant oaks and has multiple line options. We went with wood to keep it in the shade. Piles of dirt would have compacted roots. As for length, I don't remember, exactly, but It's a multi directional loop, so you can ride it continuously.

Very nice. I haven't been there in years. So no more hoping that someone is not coming over the next hill as you dodge the potholes in the road? Hix always drove so I wasn't so worried about my vehicle getting smashed. I just didn't want to miss a ride.

Yeah, the paved road in is nice, though I miss the old baja days. I've been going out there since I was a little kid. I'd fish with my dad and uncles. In high school, we discovered rock climbing. Lately, it's been all mtb for me. The wildfire had some effects on the trail. The vegetation has come back with a vengeance and needs a haircut. The surviving trees are so heavy with leaves that there are face slappers. ARR has plans to do maintenance soon.

Dammit! I don't have time to ride all the cool stuff that we already have.

I'm working on planning a biking vacation and it seems pretty silly when we have such great trails here that I only get to ride once a year or so. Maybe I need to schedule a few days off and have a biking vacation without the travel.

But seriously - thanks to everyone that is making all this good stuff happen! There aren't many places where the mtn biking scene is as healthy as it is here in central Texas - and that's in a large part because of this great group!
